These are trying times. Life is hard. Life is really hard…
Where do we go from here? What do we do now? Do we just wait and see how things will play out? What is our purpose? Do we even have a purpose?
Right now, the whole world feels like it is on fire, and that is before we even focus on what we have going on in our own personal lives.
For some, it has become more of a challenge to get up every day. For some, they wish they hadn’t woken up at all. For some, they debate whether to eat or not, because they need to make their food last until they can afford to go shopping again. For some, they cannot afford to turn on their heating. For some, they don’t know how they will get to work, because they cannot afford to pay for transport or for petrol. For some, they debate calling in sick because they hate their jobs so much. For some, these things are debated inside their minds, all before they have even left their beds.
We all have our own issues and situations that we are dealing with, but there are some commonly shared experiences that we all go through. It does not matter how old we are, where we are from, what colour our skin is, or what religious beliefs we have; the human experience is a shared experience.
On top of what we already deal with on our own, we are also constantly being fed so much negativity by the media. It is so easy to become trapped in a constant cycle of doom and gloom. So, we need to do better for ourselves and the ones we care about, in order to break the cycle. Some seasons in our lives will include terrible lows, but we have to believe that there will also be a number of seasons that will include amazing highs. So, we need to break out of the doom and gloom cycle, to allow the opportunity for a new and more positive season to begin. Yes, this is easier said than done, but we owe it to ourselves to try.
We deserve to find ways to create happiness in our lives. We deserve to find some joy in each day we are alive. We deserve to be surrounded by people who love and care for us. We deserve to do things we are passionate about. We deserve to be able to laugh so hard that it hurts.
No matter what is going on around us, we deserve to be able to love ourselves unapologetically.
