My apologies…

I’m sorry that you feel threatened when I speak up for myself.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened when I show my culture off with pride.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me wanting to acquire knowledge.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me wanting to increase my wealth.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me not conforming to the stereotype society has created for me.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me walking past you.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me when I walk into a shop.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me when I walk near your car.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by me when I try to ask for your assistance.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened when I’m great at my job.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened because I’ve had more hairstyles than you can imagine.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened because I don’t tolerate microaggressions.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened because I know my self-worth.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened because I know that I have a purpose.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened because I know that I was made in God’s image.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened because I continue to get up when I’m knocked down.

I’m sorry that you feel threatened by the colour of my skin.

Although, it seems that I’m not the one who needs to change my mentality or behaviour. Why should I have to change everything about who I am, just to make you feel more comfortable? Does that really make sense?

Would you like me to bleach my skin? Would you prefer it if I can no longer enter the same establishments as you? Better yet, should I wear a bag over my head and stay in my house, just so YOU can pretend I don’t exist? HA! Guess what… none of those things are going to happen.

To me, it seems as though you have a lot of deeply rooted personal problems that you need to address with no one but you!
