Goodbye 2019

This is the time of year when people decide what goals to set for the upcoming year, whether it be going to the gym, buying a car, saving money, etc. Most of our goals relate to materialistic things, but why don’t more of our resolutions relate to how we are internally and mentally?

2019 has been a year of self-reflection and growth. This year has also taught me how to handle certain situations and has opened my eyes to some of the weird and wonderful people who walk the earth. (Please take note of the sarcasm in that statement.) One of my largest realisations of the year is that I have become tired of having to repeatedly deal with certain behaviours.

2019 has made me tired of always putting others before myself.

2019 has made me tired of being made to feel responsible for other people’s mistakes.

2019 has made me tired of being other people’s punching bags.

2019 has made me tired of people telling me what to do when their opinions and suggestions wasn’t requested.

2019 has made me tired of fake friendships.

2019 has made me tired of people who don’t try to communicate effectively.

2019 has made me tired of not being spontaneous enough.

2019 has made me tired of not doing things that I enjoy.

2019 has made me tired of people mistreating others because they believe they are ‘superior’.

2019 has made me tired of those who don’t care about what is going on in the world around them.

2019 has made me tired of people being quick to judge others.

2019 has made me tired of not chasing after my dreams with all I have.

I am sure some 2019 situations will rear their ugly heads again (perhaps just in a different manner), but next time I will be better equipped to deal with them. If certain situations arise in the future, I will be ready.

I am ready for this decade to end and for the next chapter of my life to begin. It may very well be an uphill battle, but I have the fight in me to face all the troubles that may come my way and I hope you do too.

If you need goals, inspiration or a mantra for the new year, here are some of mine…

2020 will be a year of action!

2020 will be a year of working hard for what I want!

2020 will be a year of building healthy relationships!

2020 will be a year of further growth!

2020 will be a year more successful than the last!

2020 will be a year of endless possibilities!

And 2020 will be a year with no regrets!

Well said. To me, sometimes the easiest way to create a goal is to think about what I don’t want anymore in my life (or as you said, what I’m tired of), and just turn it around. 🙂 I wish you that 2020 be your best year yet!

I can relate to a lot of this. I definitely believe 2019 was about my mental and physical health as well. I feel like that’s the most important thing. I’m in the same boat as you. I let go of everything I was tired of even before the New Year. 2019 was a huge detox and 2020 will be healthier. I love this post so much !!
